As a Public Relations consultant I know the power of connections. In this blog post I'm going to share how a connection I made on Social Media led to me chilling at a beach club.
So backstory I met Samantha Lancashire on Threads. We started following each other and after many chats and paying attention to the work that she does I realized she was a great guest for my clients podcast.
I got her on the show and she thanked me for the opportunity. A simple thank you was enough. A few days passed and I get a message from Samantha telling me she's booked a day pass for me at a beach club on the island.
To say I was shocked was an understatement. I couldn't understand why she had done that. She told me she knows I don't take time out for myself and she wanted me to have a day to rest and recharge the batteries.
I couldn't believe it all she had to do was say thank you which she had already done. Her kind gesture totally made my day. I got to sunbathe, enjoy good food and drinks and switch off from life.
This got me thinking we're so used to being on the apps all day that we forget that behind each account is a person going about their day. Yes Social Media gets a bad name and rightly so in some cases. It's moments like this that made me realize how important it is to build connections.
We all get spammy messages with people talking nonsense. That's not building connections that's annoying people. For Samantha to want to treat me to the beach club a friendship had been formed. We had chatted about business and life.
This is what's required to build connections that are meaningful. You take the time to get to know that person. You have conversations that help you get to know each other.
So next time you respond to a post on Social Media or send a message really get to know that person. Even if the connection isn't for you it could help someone else.
The right people in your world truly makes a difference and having Sunday to myself was wonderful. Here's some photos to show you how I lived like a Queen

So who can you reach out to today and truly get to know that person?
Think about this not only on Social Media but in every way that you connect with people all day long.
