There is more to Marketing than Social Media

Wanna know something crazy I love to write and haven't done a blog for the longest time. Today I'm putting that right. So once a week I'm going to share my blog posts for you. 

When I chat with people about their Marketing everyone is used to doing emails and Social Media. There is nothing wrong with that but there is so much more to Marketing. 

There's a BIG wide world out there with many ways of being seen and growing your business. As I do Public Relations for clients I am constantly getting them seen in newspapers, magazines, podcasts and Digital TV. 

The way people consume content is so varied. Plus emails and Social Media can only do so much in helping people learn about you as a business owner. 

Potential clients want to know who they are hiring and if they share the same values. This is why Public Relations is such an important part of your Marketing. It helps you share your personality, skills and why you do business in a certain way. Most importantly it helps you connect with people so much easier. 

When people see something in you that they like this helps them make a decision on who they want to work with. It can happen for many reasons, same upbringing, they like your sense of humour, maybe a shared life experience etc. Ultimately it instills TRUST. 

I help my clients do this when I get them PR. With each interview that they do they are sharing information about themselves way more than what they would via an email or on Social Media. This is the POWER of Public Relations. 

When you add PR to your Marketing it speeds up the process on making genuine connections with people. It's something they can do in their spare time without feeling rushed or interrupted. 

I'm always getting clients on podcasts and I appear on them myself as a guest. What I'm excited to share with you is that I will be launching my own podcast soon called Magnetic PR with Melanie Whittaker. 

On this podcast I will be sharing my knowledge about Marketing and Public Relations alongside other people in this industry. It's going to be fun and I'm excited to share it with you.
